Hungary’s Former PM Gyurcsány Sees Chance For Leftist Victory Despite “Unfair” Election
Hungary’s upcoming elections will not be “free or fair” and will involve “a thousand frauds”, Democratic Coalition head Ferenc Gyurcsány told a forum late on Monday, adding however that he was “nearly sure” that the leftist opposition could still win.

Gyurcsány said that the next government would not be in a position to continue current policies based on reducing utility prices and rolling out sectoral taxes. “Whoever comes next, will not find anything at the bottom of the barrel,” he added.

Referring to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Gyurcsány said he did not consider him a democrat and did not expect a smooth handover of government if the opposition won the election.

Should that happen, a leftist government would have the smallest room for manoeuvre in the past 24 years, he added.
