Hungary’s PM Sees No Reason For TV Debate
- 27 Mar 2014 3:00 AM
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told public television that he saw no reason for a TV debate between the candidates for prime minister prior to the April 6 general election. People can palpably feel the difference between Socialist and Fidesz rule, he said.
“As far as I see … they don’t want to debate me but attack and generally disparage me ... this they can do without me,” Orbán said.
Over the past few weeks, PM candidates Attila Mesterházy of the left-of-centre Unity alliance and Gábor Vona of the radical nationalist Jobbik party challenged the incumbent to a televised debate.
