The number of unfilled positions in information technology is rising each year and sets the economy back by about 120 billion forints (EUR 390m) a year, business daily Napi Gazdaság said.
The Association of IT Companies, which represents companies generating 12% of Hungary’s gross domestic product (GDP), said some 10,000 jobs opened in 2013 are unfilled in the sector.
15,000 IT jobs generate about 1% of GDP, it said. Junior programmers take home a starting salary of about 180,000 forints net, but top salaries can be five times higher, the Association added.
