Hungary’s Ombudsman Calls For Changes In Absentee Ballot System
The ombudsman for fundamental rights says changes are needed in Hungary's absentee ballot system because the current rules could not be properly enforced in the past two general elections.

László Székely said he had forwarded his remarks to the National Elections Office and asked for new regulations. Due to an insufficient number of members in vote counting committees not every eligible voter who was unable to go to the polls received a visit, Székely said.

He has assessed the system in light of the equal rights of disabled people after 14 complaints were submitted from three Budapest constituencies from people whose poor health or disability prevented them from voting.
