Guest Nights by Foreign Visitors to Hungary Up by Over 15%

Guest nights at commercial and private tourism accommodations in Hungary rose 8.7pc to 2,270,000 in January from the same period a year earlier, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) show.

The number of guest nights spent by domestic travellers edged up 0.8pc to 995,000, while guest nights spent by foreign visitors increased 15.8pc to 1,275,000.

Revenue of commercial accommodations, which include hotels, bed-and-breakfasts, camp sites, resorts and hostels, rose 21pc to HUF 61.5bn.

A total of 20,565 tourism accommodations hosted guests in January, including 18,477 private and other accommodations.
