Hungary’s PM Orbán Affirms His Rejection Of Liberal Democracy
- 18 Aug 2014 9:00 AM
“We say openly that we want to build a democracy – not a liberal democracy, not one that is built solely on individual interests, but one which considers the public good as the most important thing” and at the same time “respects freedom, human rights and cultural values”, he said.
The second-quarter GDP growth of 3.9%, the highest in the EU, is a result of the changes made in the past four years, he said, as the system built on the public good has produced the desired result, creating more opportunities than liberal democracy has in a number of countries. “The facts are on our side”, he added.
