Hungarian Govt Official To Meet Reps Of Big Stores Affected By Russian Sanctions
Hungarian government commissioner Gyula Budai will meet on Wednesday representatives of large supermarket chains based in the country concerning measures connected with Russian sanctions. Budai said there was a real danger that Polish, Spanish and Dutch produce would flood central and southern Europe, and Hungary must be appropriately prepared for such a situation.

The authorities must take measures to protect the Hungarian market, he said, adding that inspectors would carry out strict controls in this area over the next few months.

He said Hungary had a need for around 25 agricultural companies which have had a stable presence on the Russian market to deliver their produce to their Russian partners once again.

These are primarily meat companies, he said, adding that Hungarian produce would be helped to penetrate third markets, such as those countries which have formal trading arrangements with Russia.
