Literary Dinner With Glen Duncan @ Brody House Budapest, 24 September
On Wednesday 24th September the Autumn Series of Literary Dinners starts with a bang (and possibly a whiff of sulphur…) as Rosie Apponyi welcomes Glen Duncan and his crackling “I Lucifer: Finally, the Other Side of the Story” to Brody Studios.

The end is nigh and the Prince of Darkness has just been offered one hell of a deal: reentry into Heaven for eternity - if he can live out a well-behaved life in a human body on earth. It’s the ultimate case of trying without buying and, despite the limitations of the human body in question (previous owner one suicidally unsuccessful writer, Declan Gunn), Luce seizes the opportunity to run riot through the realm of the senses.

This is his chance to straighten the biblical record (Adam, it’s hinted, was a misguided variation on the Eve design), to celebrate his favorite achievements (everything from the Inquisition to Elton John), and, most important, to get Julia Roberts attached to his screenplay.

But the experience of walking among us doesn’t turn out as His Majesty expected: instead of teaching us what it’s like to be him, Lucifer finds himself understanding what it’s like to be us. Glen Duncan's brilliantly written novel is an investigation of the world of the senses - the seductiveness of evil, and the affection that keeps us human.

The evening will be structured around an author talk, followed by a book-inspired menu of Hellish Fare: join the Prince of Darkness for Bloody Marys, Devils on horseback, Chicken fra diavolo & Chocolate nemesis, all accompanied by local wines.

London’s Guardian newspaper considers Brody Studios “Budapest’s epicentre of cool” whilst the Telegraph describes Rosie’s literary dinners as “delicious food, lashings of good wine, and a terrific atmosphere”. An exciting collaboration, Rosie’s Literary Dinners at Brody Studios promise a unique experience for readers and diners alike; bespoke menus and the company of fellow bibliophiles together with literary superstars.

“Lucifer is charming and sexy and very very funny. Glen Duncan knows way too much,
and says it far too well. I fear for his soul" – The Times

“One of the hottest literary properties this century" – The Independent on Sunday

“Duncan is a sharp, sometimes savage observer of the human condition,
whose talents are as many as the legions of Hell" – The Bookseller
