The 18th Békéscsaba Sausage Festival takes place this weekend between October 23 and 26 as preparations are already well underway for the event. The festival, called Kolbászfesztivál in Hungarian, is one of the most prominent culinary events of the year, a four-day program revolving around the traditional Hungarian sausage.

This year’s Sausage Festival is set to see a large turnout, while the number of teams in the several sausage making competitions is also set to be record breaking, Hungary Today learned.

The 18th Sausage Festival of Békéscsaba will feature the IV. Pál Krajcsó memorial sausage making competition, the IV. Cauldron Stuffed Cabbage-cooking competition, the Free Sausage filling competition for young people, mainly for grandchild and grandfather teams, and there is also a separate competition of sausage filling for NGOs, retired clubs, large families, and handicapped people.

Last but not least, a competition of winter salami will also take place.

The festival will await visitors with food and agricultural exhibitions, folk music, dance and games. The official guest town for the 18th Sausage Festival of Békéscsaba is Gyergyószentmiklós.

The four-day event will feature countless musical performers, including Tankcsapda, Csík Zenekar and Lovasi András, Irie Maffia, Punnany Massif and many more well known musicians.
