Hungary, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania Discuss South Corridor Gas Pipeline
- 4 Dec 2014 8:00 AM
After Russia’s decision on the South Stream pipeline Hungary must seek further possibilities to secure the country’s safe long-term energy supply, the ministry said. Delivering gas arriving from Azerbaijan through the South Corridor to Central Europe has a special role among these possibilities.
The South Corridor is a realistic project that could be completed in the medium term, and it is viable from the financing point, the ministry said, adding that it involves linking the existing interconnectors and building the missing infrastructure rather than constructing one big pipeline.
The corridor enjoys the support of the European Union, the ministry said.
