Hungary’s Extraordinary Parlt Session Lacks Quorum

The extraordinary session of parliament convened for Tuesday morning lacked a quorum as most lawmakers of the governing parties stayed away from the event. The session was initiated by the opposition Socialists to discuss proposed changes to the road toll system.
It was supported by the LMP party and independent lawmakers. In a vote altogether 50 lawmakers approved the schedule against three lawmakers representing the co-ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrats.
The votes cast, however, were not enough for putting the issue on the assembly’s agenda. Presiding chairman János Latorcai formally declared the session closed.
