Hungary Has No Excessive Macro Imbalances, Says EU Commissioner
No excessive macroeconomic imbalances were detected in Hungary during a comprehensive examination of risks perceived earlier in the country, Pierre Moscovici, EU commissioner in charge of economic and financial affairs, said.

However, the review carried out in Hungary found that several macroeconomic imbalances which require major political measures and close monitoring.

External balances have somewhat improved in Hungary but a high public debt and regulatory burdens on the financial sector as well as the high ratio of defaulting loans give cause for concern, he said.
