Hungary To Host 2016 Beach Handball World Championship
The 2016 beach handball world championship is to take place on Budapest’s Margaret Island, the international federation has decided.

The decision has been hailed by Hungarian Handball Federation chairman Iván Vértesi, who added that similarly to the 2013 male U-19 world championship, the Group B goalball European championship and the December female European championship, Hungary will aim for an excellent performance in organising the event.

The present success is down to not only the successful application and previous event organised to acclaim by the country, but also to the fact that both male and female Hungarian beach handballers have achieved outstanding results, Mr. Vetési explained.

Both adult and junior players have been successful, he added, pointing out that the adult female team may even win the title of World Champion at the Budapest event.

The Beach Handball World Championship is a biannual competition for male and female national teams. It was first orgainsed by the International Handball Federation in 2004. The previous, 2014 event was held in Recife, Brazil.
