Hungarian Cabinet Plans To Build Eight Prisons
The cabinet plans to build eight prisons in the next five to six years to alleviate overcrowding in existing facilities. The towns of Komló and Dombóvár have decided to bid for the state investment by offering land free of charge.

Opponents of the project in Komló would like to see a referendum held on the issue, but the town’s Fidesz mayor József Polics says there is no time for that, as the town must apply for the project by the end of the month.

Dombóvár town council will decide on March 26 whether to bid for the project, independent mayor Loránd Szabó told Népszabadság.
