Nyugati Budapest Railway Station To Close For Two Weeks
- 14 Mar 2015 8:00 AM
The news comes as another major Budapest railway station, Déli pályaudvar, has been closed since late January after a collapsed buttress blocked the entrance of traffic to the terminal.
Since the event, the western part of the country has been served by trains departing from and arriving to the Kelenföld station on the outskirts of Buda.
Preliminary reconstruction works have since begun and are expected to take three to four weeks, meaning that passengers will be able to use the station again by the time Nyugati closes.
The exact reasons of the buttress collapse are to date unknown, as is the price of reconstruction.
