Hungary’s Anti - Brain Drain Programme Gains Steam
Fully 282 people have registered for the anti-brain drain programme launched a week ago to attract young Hungarians working abroad back home, the economy ministry said. It said it would be accepting an unlimited number of registrations but will select 50 Hungarians who will be offered jobs and support relocating.

Szabolcs Pákozdi, managing director of the National Employment Foundation, said a week earlier that the programme’s target group includes university graduates, mainly in the UK, in professions with labour shortages in Hungary.

They have worked at least one year abroad, speak English well and intend to return home, he said.

The programme can also help participants set up a business in Hungary, he added.

The programme has first-round funding of 100 million forints. Decision on the relocation support will be taken on a case-by-case basis.
