DK Queries Hungary’s PM’s Wealth Accumulation
The Democratic Coalition is asking the Tax Office to look into how Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister’s Office leader János Lázár and Felcsút mayor Lõrinc Mészáros have apparently acquired considerable wealth in recent years. MP Ágnes Vadai said on Monday that the party is interested in how the prime minister has become so rich, although his salary would not make that possible.

The Democratic Coalition is also keen to find out how Lázár paid for his Ft 23 million “hunting spree” in the Czech Republic and how he could afford to buy a Ft 70 million flat in Buda.

In addition, Vadai asks how it was that Mészáros could “forget” to list income of Ft 1 billion on his declaration of assets.

While the tax office constantly hassles “hard-working people” it “lets the political big fish off scot-free,” she said.
