Socialists Use Budapest Office As Aid Centre For Migrants
The Socialist Party plans to transform its former headquarters building into a logistics and co-ordination centre for NGOs engaged in helping migrants, it was announced on Wednesday. Ágnes Kunhalmi, head of the party’s Budapest chapter, said migrants cannot stay in the Jókai utca building in Budapest’s Sixth District because the law does not allow it.

She said the government should start a bus service for migrants, to transport them from the border and train stations to camps, she suggested.

Kunhalmi also called on the government to set up information centres and additional refugee camps.

Meanwhile, the Together party has asked the Interior Ministry for details on how EU funds for refugees are spent in Hungary.

It has also asked for reports of conditions in refugee camps and on what the government is doing to curb hatred.
