Majority Of Hungarians Feel Defenceless In Face Of Effects Of Climate Change
Fully 80 % of Hungarians feel the effects of climate change on a daily basis, and worry about it, while every seventh feels correspondingly defenceless, according to a survey published by the Energiaklub thinktank. People in small towns and villages especially feel summers are getting hotter and hotter and droughts are getting more frequent, while damagecausing pests are spreading at a faster rate, the survey found.

Many complain about heavy downpours and wind storms as well as experiencing milder winters.

Most respondents associated climate change with health problems and disruptions to services such as utilities.

Half thought local government should be more active in taking measures to protect settlements.

Energiaklub carried out the survey with a nationwide representative sample of 1,600 adults in July.
