143 Granted Refugee Status In Hungary
Of the 177,122 migrants who submitted applications for asylum status in Hungary last year, 143 received refugee status, 346 others the protected status and five were not deported for other reasons, according to the Immigration and Citizenship Office.

An estimated 400,000 migrants arrived in Hungary last year, most of whom did not apply for refugee status. The majority of those who did apply did not wait for the end of the proceedings but left Hungary when they could. Therefore the authorities were obliged to terminate their proceedings.

The Immigration and Citizenship Office had 41,877 registered proceedings as at December 29.
