Details:
The work of baristas and bartenders can provide at least as much excitement, creativity and a challenge as that of chefs; and it is becoming more and more popular to be creative behind the bar in Hungary too. Spectacular development is taking place not only in the kitchens of restaurants, but we now have bars and cafés recognised at international level as well, not to mention professional Hungarian baristas and bartenders who have won world champion titles and achieved fame.
The best of the coffee and beverages profession will be at the CoffeeBar weekend because five national competitions will be held over the two days: baristas will compete in the Cup Tasting competition on Saturday, and in the Latte Art competition on Sunday. The winners will represent Hungary at the world championship in Shanghai in the spring.
The Hungarian Cocktail and Flair Championship will also be held on Sunday; the winners of the classical and the flair categories will be heading to the 2016 World Championship in Tokyo.
Apart from the barista and bartender competitions, the Hungarian Sommelier Championship will be organised as a two-day event in the hotel’s glamorous ballroom on 21 February.
In addition to the competitions, the event includes several presentations: the programmes offered to visitors on Saturday include lectures on overseas coffee culture as well as the alternative Hungarian coffee universe and all its elements. There will be an abundance of exclusive tastings: top quality specialty teas, French spirits, champagnes prepared “méthode traditionelle”, premium hot chocolates, cocoa shell infusions and cascara made from coffee husks will be served in tasting glasses and cups during the lectures.
The three finalists of the Bacardi Legacy competition at the end of February will introduce themselves and present their special cocktails. Lizzy Evdokimova, international Bacardi brand ambassador, will appear at the event.
In addition to unlimited coffee tastings, winemakers will be holding tastings over the two days; the price of the admission ticket includes more than 20 wines as well as the tastings of pálinkas and spirits. While sipping your drinks you can enjoy the delicacies offered on the stands of numerous exhibitors, who will be waiting for you at this fantastic drinks weekend in the event rooms of the Corinthia Hotel.
