Quick Tourism Insight: Guest Nights Spent by Foreign Visitors to Hungary Up Again
The number of guests at commercial and private tourism accommodations in Hungary rose 5.3pc to 1,067,000 in January from the same month a year earlier, while the number of guest nights climbed 3.6pc to 2,351,000, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Thursday show.

The number of domestic guests rose 4.6pc to 494,000 and the number of foreign visitors climbed 6.0pc to 573,000.

The number of guest nights spent by domestic travellers increased 2.5pc to 1,020,000, while guest nights spent by foreign visitors rose 4.4pc to 1,331,000.

Visitors from Italy accounted for the largest number of guest nights: 132,900. Visitors from Romania spent 95,300 guest nights and visitors from the Germany 94,100. Guest nights spent by travellers from Asia edged down 0.8pc to 182,400.

Gross revenue of tourism accommodations rose 8pc to HUF 66.4bn.

A total of 20,367 tourism accommodations hosted guests in January, including 18,279 private and other accommodations.
