Charges Filed Against Kicking Camerawoman
Szeged prosecutors yesterday pressed charges of disorderly conduct against Petra László, the camerawoman who was recorded kicking and apparently trying to trip fleeing refugees near the Röszke border station last September.

The prosecution said László caused no injuries, but her violent conduct may have given rise to outrage or alarm.

The indictment states that her act was not motivated by racism.

Footage of László kicking a young man and a young girl and trying to trip a Syrian man carrying his son went viral on the internet following the incident one year ago, generating widespread revulsion against Hungary’s hard-line policy on refugees.

The man, Osama Abdul Mohsen, was later given asylum status in Spain.

According to the indictment, he was not tripped up by László, but fell as he stumbled out of the grip of a policeman.

Because of the incident, László was sacked from her job as a camerawoman for N1TV, a station linked to the Jobbik party.
