Socialists Urge Ethical Procedure Hungarian National Bank’s Governor
- 10 Oct 2016 9:00 AM
László Szakács, the Socialist Party’s deputy group leader, told a news conference on Friday that, based on ethical guidelines the bank adopted in 2014, a procedure to establish whether Matolcsy used his position inappropriately should be launched.
He also called on Patai to confirm whether there was any substance to the reports and, if so, Matolcsy should reveal publicly the lease contract for the residence, he said.
Szakács said it may be appropriate to request the European Central Bank to give an opinion on the matter. The Jobbik party called on Matolcsy to resign over the matter. Jobbik deputy leader Dániel Z Kárpát said any “friendship” between “controlled and controller” was unacceptable.
