Áder considers the nomination a recognition of his presidential efforts so far, but also respects the stance of opposition politicians who object to his serving a second term, it said.

“The president wishes to stay away from any fighting between the political parties,” it added. Fidesz’s decision to re-nominate Áder was made public last Thursday.
