New Night Shelter Opens
Mayor István Tarlós on Monday ordered the opening of a new night shelter in Budapest because the extreme cold weather is expected to continue for a few more days.

Consequently, the auditorium of the headquarters of the city’s local council law enforcement directorate at Akadémia utca 1, near Parliament, was opened to the needy at 6 p.m. Monday.

Mattresses and basic staples are provided by the Maltese Charity Service and the Budapest Methodological Social Centre.

The facility has 50 places for the homeless.
