Orbán Meets Outgoing Swimming Federation Chief
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Friday met Tamás Gyárfás, outgoing president of the Hungarian Swimming Federation, the prime minister’s press chief said. The prime minister greatly appreciates the work Gyárfás has put in for Hungarian swimming in cooperation with the government over the past two decades, Bertalan Havasi said.

Orbán told Gyárfás that he would continue to count on his work as a sports diplomat both in Hungary and abroad, especially in connection with the 2017 World Aquatics Championships and the 2020 European Aquatics Championships, both of which will be hosted by Hungary.

Gyárfás, who is also deputy president of FINA, resigned as head of the Hungarian Swimming Federation last November after repeated calls by several swimmers including three-time Rio Olympic champion Katinka Hosszú and coaches.
