Work Begins On First Hungarian Centre In Ukraine
Construction of the first Hungarian House in Sub-Carpathian Ukraine began in Rakhiv on Thursday. The Hungarian government is contributing Ft 80 million to the project to promote the survival of ethnic Hungarians in the Upper Tisza region as well as the Hungarian community in Rakhiv, Magyar Hírlap reports.

The community centre is being built above the offices of the local Roman Catholic church.

Government commissioner István Grezsa told reporters that the cabinet decided in the autumn of 2016 to establish cultural centres in various towns and communities in the region to help them to preserve their Hungarian identity.
