EU Commissioner Jourová To Visit Hungary
EU Justice Commissioner Vera Jourová will visit Hungary later this year as part of infringement proceedings launched against Hungary in 2016 regarding desegregation in schools and an unjustified mass declaration of Roma children as disabled.

Jourová will personally gather information about legislative changes affecting the integration of Roma, as well as the application of the law.

In Hungary 60% of Roma children are segregated from other children in schools, a high figure matched only in Bulgaria and Slovakia.

Jourová said in late August that “every Roma child must have exactly the same access to schools as other children. Education is the key to better integration into society”.
