Scientology Headquarters In Budapest Searched
Law enforcement authorities conducted a search at the Budapest headquarters of the Church of Scientology on Wednesday, the National Police reported, confirming information provided by an Index reader.

Police said they are conducting an investigation into an unidentified perpetrator for the suspected abuse of personal data and other crimes.

The reader wrote that police turned out in strength and surrounded the building on Váci út. No more details were released.

The ”press chief” of the scientologists Attila Miklovicz said earlier that the organisation had raised funds exclusively from the donations of followers but some of the donations had also come from the United States.

Scientology lost its official church status in Hungary in 2011 and has not since regained it. Its critics say it is merely a business venture and also represents a national security risk. This was not confirmed by the secret services. According to estimates it has 4,000- 5,000 members.
