To avoid a repeat of last year’s chaos when postal deliveries suffered huge delays, the state-owned company said it has tripled package-sorting capacity at its Budapest base, installing a Ft 1 billion line capable of sorting 10,000 packages an hour.
The company is expanding warehouse space at 60 units around the country.
Magyar Posta is also beefing up its logistics and delivery services to cope with the Christmas rush.
It expects a 30% rise in package turnover in December after a record figure in the same month of last year.
