Hungarian Forint Strengthens To Five-Month High
The forint traded at less than 320 per euro on Thursday, reaching a five-month peak after a two-day rally.

The strengthening started on Wednesday when MNB deputy governor Márton Nagy said the central bank was ready to start monetary tightening if core inflation hits 3%, something that he said he expected to occur in the first quarter.

    Hungarian rate-setters left the base rate on hold at 13% at a regular policy meeting. The Council also decided on Tuesday to keep the central bank’s O/N deposit rate at 12.50% and the O/N collateralised loan rate at 25%.
