A raspberry cake (Boldogasszony Csipkéje) made by Norbert Tóth, from Tóth Cukrászda in Dunaföldvár, was named the winner of the competition for best traditional cake.
The layered cake contains more than 600 grams of raspberries. The sponge is soaked in raspberry juice, and filled with raspberry–white chocolate cream, whipped ganache with lemon and basil, raspberry jam and raspberry meringue.
The “Little Chestnut” (Kicsi Gesztenye), made by László Gyuris from A Cappella Confectionery in Szeged, won the competition for best sugar-free cake.
A sponge layer covered with hazelnut–almond crunch is topped with a blueberry layer spiced with lemon and star anise, then a light chestnut mousse, with a crown of sugar-free milk chocolate.
Both cakes can be tasted from 18th to 20th August at the Festival of Folk Arts, which will be held in Buda Castle and at Várkert Bazaar.
After 20th August, both cakes will be available from confectioneries.
