Hungarian Police Reject Eurostat Murder Data
Police statistics on murders in Hungary disagree with those of Eurostat, the National Police said yesterday.

Data on Hungary released by Eurostat on Wednesday showed 1.6 murders per 100,000 inhabitants in 2017, making the murder rate the sixth highest in the EU.

Hungarian police wrote on Thursday that there were 90 registered homicides in 2017 in a population of 9.8 million, which is 0.92 per 100,000 inhabitants.

With this figure, Hungary’s murder rate is the 18th highest in the EU.
