Scooters Banned From Budapest’s Kossuth Tér
The cabinet has amended a decree in order to ban scooters from Kossuth tér, effective December 5.

The amended decree introduces the notion of “simple means of conveyance” – defined as “a means of transporting people not qualifying as a vehicle” – which may be put into motion through “human power, electric or other mechanical power”.

This refers to electric and foot-driven scooters and scooter-like means of transport, as they are not considered vehicles under the traffic code.

Wheelchairs and baby carriages may continue to enter the square, as may children’s scooters.

Cycling remains permitted in parts of the square.
