Hungarian French Institute To Host Francophone Month In March
The Hungarian French Institute will host the 9th Francophone Month, a month-long cultural event dedicated to French art, in March, organisers told public news channel M1 on Monday.

The event will be kicked off with a Francophone Film Week between February 27 and March 8, featuring 19 films from seven countries, Zoltán Uzsák of the institute said.

The film week will be opened with Swim or Sink, a feature film that attracted four million viewers in France last year.

The films will be screened in three cinemas in Budapest and then in twelve ones in other Hungarian cities, he said. Partner cinemas in Budapest: Corvin Cinema, Puskin Cinema, Toldi Cinema.

French, Belgian, Canadian, Moroccan, Swiss, Romanian and Tunisian movies are also featured in this year’s Film Days program.

This year, a number of French directors and actors can meet the Hungarian audience at the festival: Catherine Deneuve, Guillaume Canet, Audrey Tautou, Romain Duris, Omar Sy, Isabelle Adjani, Vincent Cassel – just a few of the biggest names in this year’s selection.

Other events will include shows of French performers, exhibitions and lectures, Uzsák said.
