Calls for the resignation of Hungary's conservative president intensified on Friday following widespread anger over her decision to pardon an individual convicted of concealing a child sexual abuse case. The move has triggered an unprecedented political scandal for the longstanding nationalist government.
After coming under increasing pressure for pardoning a man convicted of helping to cover up sexual abuse in a children's home, Hungarian President Katalin Novak resigned on Saturday.
