The first shipment of the Pfizer-BioNTech remedy arrived in Hungary on Saturday and so far about 2,500 healthcare staff have been inoculated.
The second shipment is sufficient for inoculating 35,000 people.
The vaccines were delivered yesterday to hospitals in Nyíregyháza, Miskolc, Székes-fehérvár, Balassagyarmat, Kaposvár Pécs, and Szeged, among others.
Inoculation is due to begin on Thursday, initially for medical workers in the “frontline” such as emergency, infection and intensive care wards.
The vaccines arrived in boxes that can keep them at a temperature of -60C to -90C for ten days.
Each vial has enough vaccine for five inoculations.
