Vodafone To Unexpectedly Cancel UPC E-Mail Addresses In Hungary
Vodafone Magyarország is cancelling e-mail addresses ending “upcmail.hu” and “chello.hu”, which it inherited when it bought UPC’s Hungarian operations, dissatisfied clients told news website Média 1 on Tuesday.

During the acquisition which was completed last year, CEO Amanda Nelson of Vodafone promised that clients may continue to use the services of UPC undisturbed, but it seems this promise was not kept, Media 1 comments.

Vodafone will cancel these addresses on March 1, 2021, due to the lack of sufficient clients, the telecom company said.

Redirecting e-mails from the old addresses to new ones, this way keeping subscribers happy, would cost Ft 2,800 annually per client, Média 1 estimates.

Some of the affected clients are threatening to sue Vodafone.
