Coronavirus: Hungarian Minister Appeals For Medical Volunteers
“I am respectfully asking you to help against Covid-19 and apply as a volunteer both in emergency and basic care,” Human Resources Minister Miklós Kásler wrote in a public letter to all medical professionals.

Applications are expected from medical students, including those studying dentistry and pharmacy, as well as interns and specialist candidates, specialists from clinics where a decline of patients is expected due to the epidemics, those working in private healthcare, and health care professionals currently not in the health sector or out of work.

One reason for the recruitment is that health workers over the age of 65 had to be relocated to positions where they could not encounter coronavirus patients, Index writes. That is why the ministry is looking to recruit volunteers aged 18-48.

Update: Almost 900 volunteers applied for the call within two days, most of them medical, pharmacist and dental students, but also a significant number of graduate doctors and health professionals.
