Parking Fees Set To Increase In Budapest
Budapest city council has decided to raise parking fees in several districts from August 1. Parking costs will move up one price category in the 2nd, 12th, 13th and 14th Districts.

Also parking zones may be expanded in the 12th, 13th and 14th districts.

There are five parking fee categories in Budapest, based on how many people wish to park in the given area.

Parking is the most expensive in the Fifth District and gets cheaper towards the outskirts.

The central government abolished parking fees across the country during the state of emergency, but has said parking fees will apply again from July 1.

The city will carry out an overall review of the Budapest parking system, and will consider the idea of progressive parking fees, in which shorter parking periods would be cheaper than longer ones and the first 15 minutes may be free of charge.
