Mayor Proposes Progressive Parking Fee System For Downtown Budapest
Mayor Gergely Karácsony has proposed the introduction of a progressive parking fee system for downtown Budapest that would make the first 15 minutes of parking free of charge with the rate then rising progressively.

Addressing an event streamed on City Hall’s Facebook page, Karácsony said a progressive fee system would guarantee that motorists would only park their cars in the downtown area for as long as they actually need to, making parking easier.

The move to make parking free of charge has had the exact opposite effect, the mayor added.
