April Inflation In Hungary Exceeded 5%
Hungary’s consumer price index increased by an annual 5.1% in April, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Tuesday.

KSH noted that tobacco prices grew by 20.1%, while vehicle fuel prices were up 39.2%. Core inflation, which excludes volatile fuel and food prices, was 3.1%.

KSH adopted a new methodology for calculating core inflation for the first time, excluding spirits and tobacco from the indicator.

When it announced the change a week earlier, KSH said the measure was taken in line with European best practice and would reduce overlap between headline CPI and core inflation from 73% to 63%.
