Fashion Street & Váci Utca

It’s likely that all Budapest visitors walk along Deák Ferenc Street and Váci Street at least once during their visit to the city. The two pedestrian streets, connected to the renovated Vörösmarty Square, are not just perfect places to visit for fashionistas (thanks to their hundreds of shops), but are also excellent for buying souvenirs.

Those who are less keen on shopping should turn their gaze upwards. The facades of the buildings that line Váci Street will surely take their breath away.

Ráday utca

Ráday Street – although not a pedestrian-only street – has become a favoured street for restaurants because of traffic restrictions in the area. Both sides of the street are full of restaurants, bars and bistros all the way from Kálvin Square, resulting in a unique and vibrant atmosphere.

It’s worth visiting for those who like exclusive experiences as well, because Costes restaurant – the first restaurant in Budapest awarded a Michelin star – is also located here.

Hajós utca

The small street located next to the Opera might be one of the most charming places on the Pest side of the city. The pedestrian street is lined by Art Nouveau buildings where cafés, restaurants and bars keep popping up one after the other.

The once infamous street that was filled with speakeasies and pubs has become one of the most pleasant places in town if one wants to relax with a cup of good coffee. Cozy A Presto, one of Budapest’s top Italian restaurants serving dishes of impeccable quality, is also situated here.

City Park & Margaret Island

The capital’s two largest parks attract thousands of visitors who want to recharge in nature every day. Even the road to City Park is comparable to a cultural tour. Those who take Andrássy Street are walking in a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is connected to Heroes’ Square, where passengers can wonder at the protected Millennium Memorial and the museums around the square.

City Park is only a few steps away, where visitors can rent a paddle boat in the summer or go ice skating in the winter next to Vajdahunyad Castle and feel like they are on the set of a romantic movie.

Walking along Margaret Bridge can offer a break from hectic weekdays. While sitting under the 150-year-old trees of Margaret Island, wandering in the Japanese garden or watching the light show at the Musical Fountain, one can easily forget about the hustle and bustle of the city, although it is only a few minutes away.

Buda Castle District

Visitors can walk across the iconic Chain Bridge and find themselves on Clark Ádám Square, from which a passage will lead them to the Buda Castle District.

Those who are not fans of stairs can take the electric bus or the unique Buda Castle Funicular to get to Szent György Square and start discovering the Buda Castle District walking on the cobblestone streets.

Whichever direction we chose to wander in, we will surely reach Matthias Church sooner or later and get to enjoy the exceptional panorama from Fisherman’s Bastion.

Lövőház utca

If one walks down from Buda Castle in the direction of Bécsi kapu and arrives to Széll Kálmán Square, Lövőház Street, the favourite meeting point of locals, will be only a few steps away.

This pedestrian street awaits visitors with wine bars, bistros, restaurants and a unique atmosphere, and those who still have some leftover energy can head to Millenáris Park to walk around or feed ducks after dinner or a glass of wine.
