Hungarian Households Expect Home Prices to Climb Further
Expectations for the housing market have been steadily improving since the second quarter of last year, with respondents expecting prices of second-hand homes to rise in all regions in the near future, and a double-digit increase of 11% for new homes, according to a survey by economic research institute GKI and building materials maker Masterplast.

The quarterly GKI-Masterplast Budapest housing market index rose 13 points on an annual basis and by five points compared to the previous quarter.

On a national average, a slight majority of respondents expect prices of second-hand homes to rise over the next 12 months.

Outside Budapest, the share of respondents speculating on price increases is close to two-thirds, while in the capital the proportions of respondents predicting price increases and stagnation do not significantly differ, at 44% and 46%, respectively.

More people expect higher rents in the capital.
