Foreigners Made 7.7 Million Trips to Hungary in Q2
Foreign visitors made 7.7 million trips to Hungary in the second quarter, double the number in Q2 2020 but only slightly more than half of those was in Q2 2019, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said in a data release.

The lifting of restrictions imposed to combat the coronavirus pandemic led to a sharp rise in travel volume. In Q2, there were 6.06 mln single-day trips made by foreigners to Hungary, 931,000 trips that lasted two to four days, and 746,000 trips that lasted longer.

Foreign visitors spent the equivalent of 19.3 million days traveling in Hungary in Q2 compared to just 6.42 million days in Q2 2020, but far below the 32.31 million days in the second quarter of 2019. An average stay lasted for 2.5 days in Q2, up from 1.9 days a year before.

However, average spending was almost unchanged, as a visitor spent HUF 13,700 per day during their visit. With this, total foreign spending rose to HUF 264 billion from HUF 89 bln.
