During the six-day festival that ended on August 12, some 178,000 visitors spent 336,000 guest nights at Budapest hotels or accommodation sites, 10% more than a year earlier.
Dutch visitors accounted for the largest number of foreigners, followed by Italians, Britons, Germans and Spaniards.
Most tourists staying in Budapest during the festival – 59% – were under 34 years old, while guests in the 25-34 age group accounted for 29% of overnight stays.
Nearly 10% of the visitors to the festival were locals, of whom 14% were from Budapest, but many came from Debrecen, Miskolc, Szeged, Pécs, and Nyíregyháza.
The most visited city sites during the Sziget included the area around the Parliament building, Margit Island, St. István’s Basilica, the Széchenyi baths and the Great Market Hall.
