Watch: Christmas Fair @ St Stephen Basilica Budapest

Open until 1 January. ‘In love and safety’. That’s the motto in 2021 of the advent fair at the basilica. The annual feast celebrating its 12th anniversary this year returns to deliver the true meaning and spirit of the holiday in its traditional form after 2020’s special online form which was caused by the coronavirus epidemic.
From the organisers: This year – fulfilling current regulations and laws – craftsmen and culinary professionals will return to St. Stephan’s square. As the years prior a common Christmas tree will be decorated, which will stay there in addition with an advent wreath and a Christmas crib through the weeks of the fair.
Our program during the fair includes a photo exhibition, an ice rink, a selfie automat and a light show that will be projected to the facade of the basilica every day at 16:30 to mesmerize visitors.
No high-standard Christmas fair can be complete without proper background music. Thus, guests of the advent at basilica shall also not lack great artists and musical groups. Besides celebrities, bands, duos, acapella and gospel choirs a handpan artist will also perform several times on the stage of the fair.

The aim of this year’s fair is to provide a real family holiday event after the quarantined experience we all had to suffer last year. For no advent can pass without shared experience.
