The responsibility for deteriorating Hungary-Ukraine relations clearly lies with Kyiv, but the Hungarian government continues to support dialogue, Peter Szijjarto, the foreign minister, said on Monday, noting that Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha is scheduled to visit Hungary this week.
Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has called it "unacceptable and shocking" that "Ukraine has launched another attack against an oil pipeline in Russia that supplies Hungary," adding that deliveries to Hungary through the pipeline had been halted.
Hungary and Slovakia together have prevented the approval of the latest European Union sanctions package, the foreign minister said after a meeting of the EU foreign affairs council in Brussels on Monday, adding that they protested against plans to ban the purchase of cheap Russian gas and crude.
The Hungarian government wants to definitely avoid a situation where Ukraine’s fast-tracked accession to the European Union would make Hungary a destination for hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian jobseekers and a "gateway for the Ukrainian mafia", Peter Szijjarto, the foreign minister said.
