EU Commission Calls on Hungary to Suspend ’Discriminatory’ Fuel Prices

Hungary has provoked more criticism from the European Union, this time over a discount fuel policy. Only drivers with Hungarian license plates are eligible for cheaper petrol, while those with foreign-registered cars have to pay market rates.

The move to restrict price caps to Hungarian vehicles led to the threat of court action by the EU’s industry chief.
